The 26th edition of Journées de la culture will be held this weekend. On the program: thousands of activities offered to culture lovers across Quebec. Here is a selection of events taking place in and around Montreal. 

Rehearsals open: creation choreography

You are invited behind the scenes of the show Cru d'automne, a piece being worked on by choreographer Sébastien Provencher for third-year students at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal.

The words of my father

The author and actress Louise Portal shares excerpts from her book My Father's Words, accompanied by Sylvain Massé from the À voix haute troupe.

Molinari! Colorful!

Here, children aged 6 to 12 learn to create colorful works of art – and the meaning of colors – using painter Guido Molinari's favorite techniques. A guided tour of the current exhibition is also planned.

En famille au MAC

The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is inspired by its playful exhibition by Mika Rottenberg for this creative activity aimed at families and children aged four and over. Baubles, images, sounds and manipulations will be at your disposal to create colorful Rottenberg-style stagings.

Initiation to choral singing

Take part in a public and participatory choir rehearsal with the forty singers of the Musica Viva Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Cristian Gort (photo).

La block party 

The first edition of the great Quartier des Spectacles neighborhood party will take place at the Esplanade Tranquille. A series of free activities, musical performances, guided tours of the cultural heart of the district and circus performances will be offered. There will also be a tomato sauce tasting with Chef Daniel Vézina.

Photographic workshop: the landscape

In collaboration with Collège Marsan, the McCord Stewart Museum offers amateur photographers (with their own equipment) the opportunity to discover the basic techniques of landscape photography by taking part in an urban landscape photography workshop near the McCord Museum.< /p>
