Cyberattack against France Travail: three suspects arrested for data theft, they will soon be presented to a judge

Ce mardi 19 mars 2024, le parquet de Paris annonce que trois personnes ont été interpellées dimanche dernier dans le cadre de la cyberattaque contre France Travail.

On March 13, France Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi) announced that it had been the victim of a cyberattack. This Tuesday, the Paris prosecutor's office affirmed that the investigation is progressing and that three people have been arrested as part of this investigation, reports France Info. The suspects will be presented during the day to an investigating judge for indictment.

Young suspects

The three people implicated in this case were born in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Two were arrested in Ardèche and another in Yonne. Investigators carried out searches of the suspects' homes and notably seized computer equipment, which attests to fraudulent activity between them, details Le Figaro.

"The section in charge of the fight against cybercrime of the Paris public prosecutor's office requires their placement in pre-trial detention", indicates the press release from the prosecution. A judicial investigation was opened into the counts "of fraudulent access and maintenance in an automated data processing system, extraction of this data, fraud and laundering", and adds to each of these offenses is "aggravated by the circumstance of organized band", precise France Info.

In this cyberattack, the personal data of 43 million data were stolen. " Between February 6 and March 5, accounts of Cap Emploi agents, authorized to access the resources present on the France Travail information system, (were) used to proceed to download data from the job seekers database estimated at 43 million personal data", indicates the prosecutor, cited by Le Figaro .
