Muriel Furrer had fallen on Thursday during the junior road race.

The 18-year-old Swiss cyclist Muriel Furrer, who suffered a serious fall on Thursday during the Junior World Championships in Zurich, has died, the International Cycling Union announced on Friday.

“Deep sadness”

“It is with deep sadness that the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the Organising Committee of the World Championships […] in Zurich (Switzerland) learned today the tragic news of the death of the young Swiss cyclist Muriel Furrer", the authority said in a statement.
