Cyclist Gauthier Navarro in great shape for the end of the season, can look far ahead

As the cycling season draws to a close, the representatives of BMC Béziers have distinguished themselves on the roads. Gauthier Navarro, a young 24-year-old rider, came second in a race in Catalonia. A promising podium, after a series of positive results for the rider from Narbonne:“It was a great race in Spain. A real pleasure to end the season in this way and to discover new opponents with a podium at the end”proudly states Gauthier Navarro. A remarkable personal record for the resident of the Béziers club, who has regularly collected places of honor. He details: “In total, I had six victories and fourteen podiums. Especially the two victories in the N3 French Cup which allowed the team to enter the championships of several categories. “ Continuous performances, giving him other perspectives. “Unfortunately, I will no longer be part of the Béziers team next year. I'm going to change teams and try my luck at a higher level. It's possible thanks to the club, I've progressed here, on the long efforts where I've gained strength. I've had several races with a certain freshness, and have the necessary juice to regulate the group I was with."

Growing maturity

Since his return to competitive cycling, after being the victim of a gross error by the AFLD (French Anti-Doping Agency), Gauthier Navarro is looking to the future with a smile:“I feel in great shape, I have broken all my records in terms of watts in recent months. With experience, I have acquired the maturity to chain races together as it should be.” While juggling a job in a large sports retail store and the sustained preparation required by his discipline, the runner draws up a positive inventory:“It wasn't always optimal in terms of recovery. I didn't think I would come back so well, it's very complicated to organize yourself. Since January 1st, I've done 17,000 kilometers on a bike, with 25 hours of work during the week on top of that, you have to find a certain balance and do things. That's why I only want to focus on my preparation and cycling next season”, he concludes.

In addition, BMC Béziers sent three licensees to the amateur gravel world championship in Belgium last weekend. Biterrois Georges Reverdy (52nd/104, 60-64 age category), Nicolas Goux (79th/254, 45-49 age category) and Rémi Castelain (17th/571, 19-34 age category) proudly wore the colours of their club. Jérôme Mateo came 7th overall and Léopold Dupont finished 2nd in the mixed team category during the Pézenas time trial.
