Dallas Stars avoid elimination
The Dallas Stars avoided being swept in Thursday's Western Conference Finals at American Airlines Center with a 3-2 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Brayden McNabb opened the door for the Stars in overtime with a high-sticking penalty. Veteran Joe Pavelski took the opportunity to end the debate, hitting the target with a hard one-timer.
Pavelski aside, Jason Robertson deserves the star of the game for the Stars. Limited to four goals in the first 16 playoff games, the star striker scored twice.
He first showed his skills as a baseball player to respond to William Karlsson's goal in the first period.
Then, at the end of the second period, he jumped on a return throw from Esa Lindell to tie the mark a second time.
At the Golden Knights, the Quebecer Jonathan Marchessault continued his momentum. He got his eighth goal of the playoffs after receiving a perfect pass from McNabb in front of the net.
For his part, Adin Hill provided another excellent performance for the “Golden Knights”. The surprising 27-year-old goaltender stopped 39 pucks in the loss ー two more than his counterpart, Jake Oettinger.
The Stars will try to force a sixth game on Saturday at the Vegas T-Mobile Arena.
