Deadly avalanche at Mont-Blanc: who was the deceased father of the family, originally from Perpignan ?

We know more about the person who died on the night of Sunday to Monday, August 5, during of a collapse that involved about fifteen people in Haute-Savoie.

More than 24 hours after the tragedy that occurred on Mont Blanc during an avalanche, we know more about the victim, David Blot. While around fifteen people were affected by this accident, doubts have hung over the nationality of the only victim who died during the night from Sunday to Monday at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. Finally, this mountaineer would be residing in Perpignan, reveals L’Indépendant.

"Experienced" mountaineer

This Catalan by adoption, born in Lézignan-Corbières in the Aude, was a 56-year-old father, member of the Sport Montagne Cerdagne Capcir. Described as a “seasoned” mountaineer, he practiced rock climbing, ski touring, mountaineering, and trail running… “You didn't have to look for him at home on weekends, he was always up there” declares one of his best friends, in the columns of our colleagues.

Three years ago, in May 2021, another Catalan mountaineer, Alain Iglesis, aged 61, also lost his life due to a fatal avalanche in the Mont Blanc massif.
