Kobe Bryant is dead, the moving tribute created by the fans
This is a legend of basketball, which is off. This Sunday 26 January, Kobe Bryant died in a terrible helicopter accident in California. The former star of THE Lakers was accompanied by his daughter Gianna, 13, and seven others, all deceased. While the messages of sadness have multiplied on social networks, fans of the famous basketball player had an idea of moving to pay homage to him : they come to start a petition for it to become the new logo of the NBA.
The world of sport – and not that – is in shock. This Sunday in the early evening (French time), we learned of the death of the basketball player Kobe Bryant, only 41 years old. He was travelling in a helicopter in the company of eight other people, including his daughter, Gianna, 13, and young hope basketball, when the aircraft crashed in Calabasas, near Los Angeles. All the occupants are dead. Very quickly, the sad news spread on the web, and the tributes of the stars and anonymous has mushroomed.
A petition to Kobe Bryant become the NBA logo
Fans of Kobe Bryant are obviously in shock. During her 20-year career with THE Lakers, the basketball player has marked the history of his sport : he has won 5 championships in the NBA, has participated 18 times in the NBA All-Star Game and scored 33 643 points in his career (LeBron James had just overcome in the standings, becoming the third player who has scored the most points in NBA History). So many sporting achievements which have led fans to start a petition on Change.org. They ask that the silhouette of Kobe Bryant is used to create a new logo for the NBA.
Dating back to 1969 (a new version with the same silhouette has been created in 2017), the NBA logo shows the shape of a basketball player in white on a background divided between the blue and the red. The logo is currently based on the silhouette of Jerry West, former Los Angeles Lakers player.
The current logo of the NBA
The fans want so that the silhouette of Jerry West to be replaced by those of Kobe Bryant, and have even already imagined what the new logo might look like. This Monday, January 27 at 11: 30 am, over 144 000 people had already signed this petition. A lovely way to pay tribute to the sport that is sadly gone.
