Death of Philippine: the young girl “would have been 20 years old” this Thursday, the moving message from her parents for her birthday
|The parents of Philippine, a 19-year-old student found dead in the Bois de Boulogne on September 21, published a message on the occasion of their daughter's birthday.
On Saturday, September 21, Philippine Le Noir de Carlan, a 19-year-old student, was found partially buried in the Bois de Boulogne, in western Paris.
Her parents break their silence
Three weeks after this terrible tragedy, the young girl's parents have spoken out. They wanted to publish a press release to our colleagues at RTL, on the occasion of their daughter's birthday, who would have been 20 this October 10th.
“Philippine would have turned 20 today, Thursday, October 10, 2024.”Her family, deeply touched by the support and comfort they received during her death and funeral, thanks all those who surrounded her with their presence, prayers and thoughts”, her parents wrote.
Taha O., the main suspect, is currently detained in Switzerland
After the discovery of the young woman's body, a suspect was arrested in Switzerland three days later. Taha O., a 22-year-old Moroccan, had already been convicted in 2021 for rape, then released in June 2024, "at the end of his sentence" according to the Paris prosecutor's office. He was then placed in an administrative detention center (CRA) in Metz.
Upon his release, he was placed under house arrest in a hotel in Yonne, where he had never been. Having failed to comply with his reporting obligation, he had been entered in the wanted persons file the day before the murder, on September 19, and was subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF), provoking strong reactions, particularly from the far right. "He is now being held in Switzerland, so there is a guarantee regarding his detention", assured Didier Migaud, the Minister of Justice.
France filed a request for the extradition of Taha O. with the Swiss authorities on Wednesday.
