“December 23” is the most profitable Quebec film since July 2019

The film December 23 is the highest-grossing Quebec feature film at the box office since comedy < strong>Liar, released July 2019, thanks to its cumulative grossing of $2,112,145 nationwide.
Written by India Desjardins, directed by Miryam Bouchard and produced by Guillaume Lespérance, December 23 is still playing in 38 cinemas in La Belle Province this weekend, although Christmas is over.

François Arnaud, Michel Barrette, Christine Beaulieu, Catherine Brunet, Sacha Charles, Virginie Fortin, Bianca Gervais, Matthieu Pepper, Stéphane Rousseau, Salma Serraji, Catherine Souffront, Ines Talbi, Marie-Hélène Thibault , Guylaine Tremblay and Tao Vigneault co-star in December 23.
According to Cinéac, which compiles cinema admissions, December 23 >had accumulated $1,755,583 as of December 29, which made it the 18th highest-grossing film at the Quebec box office in 2022, far behind Top Gun: Maverick and its 11 $.4 million raised here.
In its 2022 report, published Tuesday, Cinéac specified that Quebec cinema has recorded a drop in its market share. From 12.4% it was in 2021, it dropped to 7.3% in 2022. “In terms of gross revenues, Quebec cinema, however, maintained its figures of $8,980,077 in 2021 at $8,911,769 in 2022”, it was indicated.
