“Everyone is free to choose, it is a fundamental right. This is what is important. People who want to wear the mask, can wear and people who do not want to wear the mask should have the right not to wear it”, pleaded one protester encountered on-site.

Others believe that the mask-wearing compulsory is going too far in a context where the number of positive case and death remains low in Québec, so that some feel strongly that the COVID-19 is of the order of the fiction.

“I don’t mask me, the COVID, it is all bu****t, starts up one of them. I’ve never been vaccinated and I have never had anything.”

The social distancing between the protesters was not more to go that the wearing of the mask, while the people present did not hesitate to hug each other and move closer in spite of instructions to the contrary of public health.
