Departmental final of rugby 7s for the M19s

On Saturday, September 21, the Freddy-Bigotière stadium in Frontignan was the scene of a departmental final of rugby 7s (Sevens), in the form of a tournament in the M19 category.

It was the Occitanie league, in partnership with the Hérault departmental rugby council, that organized this early-season event by bringing together thirteen teams from the department. From 8:30 a.m., the debates gave rise to superb matches, lively and sometimes committed. Apart from the duration, the rules of the game vary very little from those of rugby union, although, naturally, due to the space available on the field, it is a very different game to watch. Faster, more open and above all, recently awarded an Olympic gold medal, rugby 7s in Occitanie is booming.

The club's technical advisors (CTC) Lachatre, Vieulle and Porical organized, with the elected Jean-Louis David, this beautiful day which "surfed" on the Olympic wave generated by Antoine Dupont and the French team. A very good sporting level and exemplary behavior were highlighted. At the end of the day, it was the U19s of Bédarieux who won ahead of their counterparts from Jacou. The latter made up for it by winning in U16 against the Avenir blanc bleu.

These are four teams qualified for the regional phases, which will take place near Toulouse.
