Dermographer in Nîmes: “I chose to heal ailments by drawing on the skin”

In Nadine's life (not her real name), cancer struck and it struck very hard. “I had no particular predisposition. The doctors didn't really know why it happened to me! “. In September 2019, this mother was followed by skin cancer, this time by another cancer, this time of the breast, requiring no less than two total mastectomies, or complete removal of both mammary glands – areolas and nipples included. Later, to this ordeal against the disease, Nadine had to add another fight. Trying to find a woman's body again, hers having become breastless, bruised.

Illusion of volume

And it is precisely for her, and for other women plunged into this same suffering, that Ysabel Marignan chose to practice the very singular profession of dermographer. “A profession that came to me through an interest in artistic creation. And through a desire to help others!”, this true artist recently analyzed.

At home, in her tree-filled haven of peace perched on a hill in Nîmes, Ysabel clearly breathes new life into women's breasts. Like during this final 3D illusion dermopigmentation session on Nadine's chest, organized on September 26.

For nearly two hours that day, Ysabel Marignan put her talent to the service of this woman who was both strong and shy one last time. Patiently redrawing her nipples and areolas that had disappeared with surgery. Concentrated, following a strict protocol, Ysabel trained with the best (in Paris, London and soon in the United States) in the exercise of her art, first focused on redrawing the contours of Nadine's future areolas using a dermograph (photo). Before inject indelible tattoo ink under her skin “whose shade is carefully concocted for each client, in order to match her skin tone as closely as possible”, insists Ysabel.

After the outlines comes the time for filling, time-consuming (photo). Before the final bouquet, namely the creation – spectacular – of the nipples. Thanks to the contrasts of the colors, and the play of light, these seemed to have taken on volume. Incredible! As this relief was sketched, just above, on Nadine's face, a smile was redesigned again. Magical.
