In new York, died a famous American publisher and human rights activist Robert Bernstein, The New York Times reported.

It is reported that the man died at the age of 96 years. Robert Bernstein is survived by his wife, three sons, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Note that Robert Bernstein is a graduate of Harvard, after a decade of work at the publishing house Simon & Schuster, passed in 1956, Random House, presided over by 1966, and turned into one of the world’s largest publishing companies. In those 25 years that Robert Bernstein was the head of Random House, the publishing house has published books by such authors as Toni Morrison, Gore Vidal, Theodor seuss Geisel, William Styron, William Faulkner, Edgar Doctorow, Vaclav Havel, Soviet dissidents, including Andrei Sakharov and Elena Bonner.
In 1978 he became a founding member and Chairman of several human rights groups, which after the merger in 1988 became known as Human Rights Watch. In 2011 at the age of 88 years has established another human rights organization Advancing Human Rights, noting that makes it “out of necessity, as he believes that in the world there are trends, inflicting huge damage to democracy.” The winner of numerous international prizes and awards, holds honorary doctorates from several universities.
