Disability: Lozère Hospital celebrates the first anniversary of the signing of the Romain Jacob charter

The Romain Jacob charter, launched in 2014, was signed in Lozère on February 9, 2023. It provides in particular a welcome and special care, whatever the disability, in order to guarantee access to care. ;nbsp;
This is a small birthday ceremony which was organized in the large hall of the Lozère Hospital, in Mende, this Friday February 9, 2024 The establishment indeed celebrated the first anniversary of the signing of the Romain Jacob charter. The latter, written in 2014, aims in particular to improve the reception and care of patients with disabilities, whether physical, mental or psychological. , auditory, visual or even motor. "In their diversity", adds Jean-Claude Luceno, the director of the hospital. < /p>
A working group has since been created to enforce the Romain Jacob charter. It is made up of nursing assistant students at the Health Professions Training Institute (IFMS), disability referents from the establishments of the Lozère Territorial Hospital Group (GHT 48) and of members of management. An exhibition, explaining each article of the text, covering the commitments in terms of disability of the IFMS and the work of the group, is also visible on the Mendois site of the Lozère Hospital.
Improvements for everyone
Within the GHT and the Lozère Hospital, the Romain Jacob charter perfectly complements the already existing Handiconsult 48 system. "We have responded to a call for projects from the Regional Health Agency (ARS), in 2018,specifies Fanny Vialard-Grau, the coordinating nurse. This is support during the treatment process and dedicated consultations. For example, we have Handibloc, to facilitate anesthesia and operations. The goal is to be alongside people with disabilities among other patients. In addition, staff are made aware and trained on this issue. The idea is also to spread the culture of disability."
"It's long-term work that will never end, insists Jean-Claude Luceno. Each year, students will have to work on this project." Efforts which will be beneficial to all users. "What benefits the most vulnerable also benefits those who are less vulnerable", forcefully recalled Dr Didier Putod, coordinating doctor of & #39;Handiconsult in Lozère and referent of the public health center.
