Doctolib launches “in the coming weeks” online payment for doctor’s consultations on the application

The Doctolib platform, which allows you to make medical appointments online, is adding a new function that will allow you to pay directly on the application.

Teleconsultation has grown in recent years, particularly due to the shortage of doctors in certain territories. This Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the platform announces the deployment of online payment at certain doctors, for physical consultations.

"Save time"

For Doctolib, it’is a way for professionals to "save time" by preventing payment from being "time-consuming", explains the press release we consulted.

Patients will first need to enter their means of payment on the Doctolib website or application. After the medical consultation, doctors will be able to "trigger payment in one click". A notification will appear on the application to validate the payment in question.

This feature will be particularly useful for physiotherapists who work from time to time in groups of sessions for payments, sometimes leaving unpaid debts. "The online payment will also help secure their income, promises the platform.

A "progressive"deployment

This deployment will be done "gradually in the coming weeks" and Doctolib plans a mutual payment "by the end of the year" for professionals practicing third-party payment.

However, this online payment cannot be imposed by doctors, indicates Tech & Co. Patients will not be required to enter their bank details to combat no-shows during a medical appointment.
