Drowning of boater at Lake Superior

LAKE SUPERIOR | A boater lost his life on Monday during an outing in a canoe on lake Superior, in the municipality of the same name, is situated near Mont-Tremblant, in the Laurentians.

The victim, a man in his forties, was a party in a canoe with friends, but they were lost from view for a few minutes, around 17: 30. On the way back to see where was his friend, another canoeist was found the body of the man immersed in water, ” said sergeant Claude Denis, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The emergency services have been called to go to the place and the man was transported to the hospital, where doctors could only confirm his death.

The victim was not wearing a floatation jacket, stated the SQ.

This tragedy adds to a long list of drowning that continues to grow in favor with the warm weather and the holiday period. The lifesaving Society of Quebec there are now sixty of drownings in the province, a number that surpasses those listed for all of the years 2019 (58) and 2018 (57).
