ECHL: a comeback that the Lions cannot complete

ECHL: a comeback the Lions can't complete

UPDATE DAY

The Trois-Rivières Lions were tricked by the Norfolk Admirals, the worst team in the ECHL, being defeated 4 to 3 in overtime, Saturday at Colisée Videotron. Led by their captain Cédric Montminy, the Montreal Canadiens' school club almost came back from behind.

The Mauricie team lost this series of three games , having suffered a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday, before winning 5-0 on Friday. Goalkeeper Joe Vrbetic, author of this shutout, this time took advantage of a day off and it was Philippe Desrosiers who was in front of the goal.

The Quebecer made some good saves at the start of the game, but the Admirals took a 3-0 lead nonetheless. Ryan Francis closed the gap midway through the second period with the first of his three points of the game.

Trois-Rivières took advantage of the indiscipline of the visitors to score two goals on the power play in the following period. Montminy hit the target every time.

However, the Admirals had never lost in regulation this season after leading after two periods. Ryan Foss ended the debate in overtime. The forward scored seven points in nine games this season against the Lions.

It was already the penultimate duel at home for Marc-André Bergeron's men. They will play their next eight games on the road. On Wednesday they will be in Worcester to take on the Railers.
