Ecstasy, poppers and sex parties: a priest imprisoned after the death of another cleric

What happened at this party between a Belgian priest and a British clergyman ? The two men probably took drugs and had sex. The second was found dead.

A Belgian priest has been imprisoned after the death of a British cleric with whom he had taken ecstasy and poppers, the prosecutor's office in the port city of Antwerp announced on Saturday.

The 60-year-old man had called emergency services when the 69-year-old man who was staying with him in Kalmthout, north of Antwerp, felt unwell shortly after midnight. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the man, but were unsuccessful. He is being prosecuted for "drug dealing resulting in death".

Investigation into the causes of death

The initial findings of the police, the laboratory and the medical examiner showed that the two men "had consumed ecstasy and poppers together and had had sexual relations", the prosecution said.

The investigation into the exact cause of death is continuing, as the autopsy did not allow at this stage to provide a definitive answer.
