Eighteen films online for the 46th edition of the Mountain Film Festival of Banff


At a time when theaters and cinemas are still closed, the Banff Mountain Film Festival offers a virtual edition featuring 18 short and medium-length films for lovers of the outdoors and thrills strong.

This 46th edition, which was to be presented in twenty cities in Quebec, is on view, online, until February 19. This is the second consecutive edition offered virtually.

Two Quebec productions have been selected. This is the movie EM with climber Émilie Pellerin who climbs La Zébrée, a spectacular crack located in Val-David.

Always Higherfeatures high-flying diver Lysanne Richard, who performs a 22-meter dive into a frozen lake in the municipality of Thetford Mines. A feat that has never been accomplished. These two productions were directed by Quebecer Alexa Fay.

Other productions include Canadian, American, Austrian, Norwegian and French films. There's mountain biking, highlining, base jumping, rock climbing, hiking, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuit flying covered in unique and spectacular ways. /p>

“Intrepid without being reckless and driven by boundless enthusiasm, the protagonists of the films inspire us with their discreet strength and sporting creativity. This is one of the reasons why the Banff Mountain Film Festival has been an annual event for thousands of fans for several years,” said Stéphane Corbeil, instigator of the event.

Three packages

The 18 films were grouped into three packages. The Great Adventure offers the total with the 18 films and totals 4h30 of human and sporting adventures from the four corners of the planet. 

There are also packages, entitled Rouge et Bleu, which present , each, a selection of nine films. They can be viewed until February 19.

New, you can take an immersive visit, on the banffquebec.ca site, of a photographic exhibition that you could usually see in the rooms visited. There are images of expeditions carried out by Quebecers.
