English boxing: Emilie Sonvico, the end of the Olympic dream

Eliminated on Sunday at the quarter-final stage during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (TQO) which took place in Thailand, Uzétienne Emilie Sonvico missed the last chance offered to her to take part in the great mass of sport this summer, in the – 66 kg. A controversial TQO

When leaving Bangkok this Monday, the Gardoise still had difficulty explaining her defeat against Triebelova (3-2), depriving her of a sesame for Paris, she who nevertheless dominated the Slovak during these three rounds. It was another controversial TQO with many nations, including France, complaining about the judges. There are unfortunately still a lot of homemade decisions that hurt.''

For what will undoubtedly remain her last fight in the ranks of amateurs, Émilie Sonvico did not hold a grudge against the whole world:''I have no regrets about this match, according to the rules and the scores, I am in front. We did the work, after all we don't master everything, that's the law of boxing.''
With just one victory, the Gardoise could still have achieved its dream of playing the Games at home. Instead of being at the Arena, this summer, she will perhaps be abroad, already preparing for a future among professionals, her ambition and objective.

Forgotten the amateur world and its codes, make way for the professional world for Uzétienne

Aged 35, Émilie Sonvico does not want to hang up her gloves. On the contrary, she seems to have decided to open a new chapter in her rich career. ''This result only confirms that my future lies elsewhere and it is time to leave the amateur world and its codes to evolve into something more professional&# 39;', she concludes, hungry for revenge and above all new quests.
