Frenchman François Letexier has been appointed to referee the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain, Sunday in Berlin, UEFA announced on Thursday July 11.

Letexier will be assisted by his compatriots Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni from Nîmes. The French Jérôme Brisard and Willy Delajod will be responsible for video refereeing.

Aged 35 and international referee since 2017, François Letexier has already officiated at 65 official UEFA matches, including the European Super Cup in 2023, and led three group matches in Germany during l’Euro (Spain-Georgia, Denmark-Serbia and Croatia -Albania).

After Turpin's opening match

He was also the fourth referee in the opening match between Germany and Scotland. Mr. Letexier's promotion was of course favored by the elimination of France in the semi-finals of the tournament by Spain (2-1).

But it is a great recognition for French refereeing, so criticized in Ligue 1, since the opening match was also led by a Frenchman , Clément Turpin.
