The French handball players, opposed to Sweden this Friday (5:45 p.m.) in Cologne in the semi-final of the Euro, are progressing in the tournament, guided by the connection between Nedim Remili and Ludovic Fabregas, an even clearer benchmark for the Blues since that they play in the same club.

The offerings of center-half Remili for the pivot Fabregas had lit the French path towards the World Cup final with four goals from their pure channel to dismiss Sweden (31-26), after two failures in the same stage in two years.

This winter in Germany, the duo is still going strong: almost half of Fabregas' goals come from the services of his center half. The discreet Fabregas and the loquacious Remili magnetize each other like two magnetic poles when they set foot on the field.

"It's true that I've received a lot of good balls from him since the start of the competition", noted "Tchiki" Fabregas during the main round.

"He's cute, I'm going to give him a hug", Remili smiled upon hearing the remark. "It comes more from his talent than from my pass."

Even if, not clumsy with his five fingers on his left hand, the former Parisian still sits at the top of the passer rankings in this Euro with 43 assists.

This weapon of the Blues has become even sharper since the pair joined the Hungarian club Veszprem. "We know each other more than ever", estimates Ludovic Fabregas. "There is even more fluidity both in our exchanges, in the passer-receiver relationship and also in my reading of the game to put him in position . Working together on a daily basis helps a lot."

A "wealth" according to Guillaume Gille

"It's a bonus, confirms the voluble Remili. Like a few years ago when I played in Paris with Niko (Karabatic) and Daniel (Narcisse). We spoke to each other in Parisian tactical language. This happens to us a lot with Tchiki."

"That's one of the strengths of having individuals responsible for a much richer common experience. Their automatisms allow the French team to save time", appreciates the coach Guillaume Gille. "These boys continue to store up common frame of reference and this is necessarily an asset."

Especially when it comes to a connection as fundamental as that between center half and pivot. Even more so in the French team, where the game has been tilting towards the inside for several years. This offered goals from hidden passes that Fabregas expected to attract, unlike the opposing defenders, who were surprised.

"A lot of clubs and national teams, in the forms of play or the tactical options used, are very similar", observes Guillaume Gille.

"Playing Veszprem together allows you to get to know each other much better from a technical-tactical but also emotional point of view", adds Nedim Remili, laughing. "I know when Kentin (Mahé) is angry, for example. Well, Tchiki, that doesn't count, he never gets angry."
