Former Italian Ballon d’Or Roberto Baggio was robbed in his villa on the night of Thursday to Friday in the north-east of Italy and slightly injured in the forehead by the criminals, media report of the peninsula.

The burglary happened while he was watching the Italy-Spain Euro-2024 match on television with his family. Five armed criminals entered the villa near Vicenza and the ex-footballer tried to stop them but one of them hit him on the forehead with the butt of a pistol.

Locked up for 45 minutes

Roberto Baggio and his family were then locked in a room while the criminals searched the villa for money and jewelry. According to the Corriere della Sera website, this burglary lasted around 40 minutes and when Roberto Baggio realized that the burglars had left, he broke down the door and called the carabinieri.

He himself had to go to the hospital to have stitches put on the wound on his forehead. Roberto Baggio, striker and Ballon d’Or winner in 1993, played in the biggest Italian clubs, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
