European Athletics Championships: Pontvianne 6th, Gogois wins the bronze medal

The Frenchman Thomas Gogois was invited to the third step of the European podium in the triple jump, in his first international championships as a senior, by smashing his personal best by more than fifty centimeters, this Tuesday June 11 in Rome.

Gogois (23 years old) improved his personal best from 16.87 m to 17.38 m. Jean-Marc Pontvianne from Nîmes finished 6th in the competition with a jump of 17.04m. Benjamin Campaoré is 12th (16.05m).

The title for Diaz Fortun

At the end of a competition highlighted by the Spaniard Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortun, victorious with a jump to 18.18 m (wind: -0.3 m/s) which made him the third best performer in history behind the Briton Jonathan Edwards and the American Christian Taylor, Gogois took bronze behind the Portuguese Petro Pichardo, second, measured in 18.04 m.

The Portuguese, reigning Olympic champion, sets the Portuguese record.
