European elections: thunderbolt in Ayeyron, the RN comes out on top for the first time in the department

Des résultats qui sont comme un coup de tonnerre dans la vie politique de l’Aveyron. Centre presse

In 2019, Aveyron was one of the three departments of Occitanie, with Lot and Haute-Garonne, to place La République en marche ahead of the National Rally. This Sunday, June 9, the list led by Valérie Hayer arrives far behind that of Jordan Bardella, neck and neck with that of Raphaël Glucksmann. Note the strong score of the list led by Jean Lassalle on this rural department.

Election results

Aveyron no longer electorally resists the National Rally: whereas during the 2019 European elections, Aveyron had been one of the three departments of ;Occitanie to place LREM in the lead, it is aligning itself this Sunday, June 9, with the national trend, which resonates like a bolt from the blue in its electoral history.

For the first time, the RN is in fact well ahead, with a score of more than 28% of the votes, almost double that of Valérie Hayer, while’ in 2019 LREM came in first with 24% of the votes, 5 points ahead of Jordan Bardella's list.

A real success for the extreme right

A real success for the extreme right, to which are added more than 5% of the votes won by the list led by Marion Maréchal.

This Sunday, Valérie Hayer's list is struggling to reach 15% and is overtaken by a short head by that of Raphaël Glucksmann (15.7%) . A very strong  increase for the candidate supported by the Socialist Party, who barely reached 7 % of the vote in 2019 and who thus almost doubles his electoral score this Sunday.

Also note the important results achieved by the list led by Jean Lassalle, who came fourth with 8.05% of the votes, in this department where issues linked to rurality have an echo important.

He is ahead of the LR list led by François-Xavier Bellamy, which has 7.44% of the votes, losing at least two points in 2019.

Marion Aubry's France Insoumise stands at 6.21% of the vote, down one point from 2019, while Marie Toussaint's ecologists do not seem to surpass this threshold, 5%, with 4.7% of the votes.

All these developments are all the more marked as voters were strongly mobilized for this election, with participation approaching 60%, compared to 51.1% ;% at the national level.
