Extreme cold: in Alès, residents are preparing for the predicted drop in temperatures

Les Cévennes, tout comme la France, sont touchés par une période de grand froid durant tout une semaine.

This Tuesday, January 9 should even be announced as the coldest day in the entire French territory since February 2018. A phenomenon started due to an anticyclone coming from Russia and Scandinavia, and which affects Western countries including France. A cold from the North which will collide with the humid air of the Mediterranean and that's how the temperatures drop, we call it the "Moscow-Paris".

In Alès, residents are preparing to face this cold snap with serenity. If we see a lot more faces wrapped up in scarves, hats and neck warmers, it's because we've been reaching negative temperatures since the beginning of the week. With wind gusts of more than 50 km/h, in the Alesian basin, the feeling lowers the thermometer by almost 5 degrees, and the cold becomes dry and strong.

Parents are not going to particularly change the habits of children who are already sufficiently covered for the winter period. However, the arrival of the sales this Wednesday, along with that of the cold, will surely push some parents to fill the cupboards "which lack warmth".
