Faced with the overpresence of mosquitoes this summer: what solutions are there in Sète to protect yourself ?

For a few weeks now, the heatwave has brought mosquitoes back to the streets of Sète. Some vacationers are desperately looking for solutions to protect themselves from bites.
“We even got bitten in the face!” Karim's two little girls weren't spared by the over-presence of mosquitoes. The family came to spend a few days of vacation near the Lido beach, without expecting their hotel room to be "infested" with these parasitic insects. Same impression in the city center, where several residents unanimously affirm that mosquitoes disturb their sleep.
Divided opinions
Mosquitoes in excess in the summer, that does not surprise the people of Sète. Michel and his wife live on Rue du 14-Juillet and don't feel any change: “Yes, there are some, but like other years.” In reality, resentment varies depending on the city's neighborhoods. At Quai Paul-Riquet, “the canal brings back the heat and therefore the mosquitoes", explains a local resident, while an elderly couple living in Quilles “notice far fewer than before. Our grandchildren haven't been bitten."
Mosquitoes are definitely in Sète and pharmacists see it every day. Every day, tourists rush to buy mosquito repellent products, an employee of the Lafayette Saint-Louis pharmacy confirms. The store also placed "a large order" before the summer to anticipate this demand from vacationers. “Many people buy products because they are surprised to see so many mosquitoes”, reveals a pharmacist from a pharmacy located on Avenue Victor-Hugo.
Sprays, candles and repellents
What are the trendy mosquito repellent products? ? First, there are the natural sprays that are all the rage this summer. You just have to spray your skin to, normally, be protected for several hours. These body sprays are often based on essential oils. In pharmacies, you can see shelves completely filled with these products. “I don't think there's a pharmacy that hasn't stocked up on them for the summer”, adds a pharmacist from Lafayette Saint-Louis.
Indoors, scented candles, especially citronella, and electric diffusers are popular. Michel, the resident of Quai Paul-Riquet, is delighted with the effectiveness of mosquito repellent diffusers: “Now, things have calmed down.” In the aisles of Monoprix and Bricorama, these items are legion. You can even find ultrasonic and electromagnetic repellents in the DIY store that cover an area of 200m. Everyone organizes themselves in their own way to escape mosquito bites…
