The horizon has cleared a little for Catherine (*). And the tears that have been shaking the Frontignan resident since June – the month during which she was the victim of the fake bank advisor scam – have dried up a little. Even if it means transforming them into tears of positive emotion.

Proposals

Indeed, after her case was revealed by Midi Libre, the editorial team received, on its networks and by phone, offers of accommodation for her and her son. The scammer had taken from her the money she had set aside for her new accommodation (which she was therefore unable to take). After a period in a hotel, she had decided to sleep in her car with her disabled son.

In a gîte

Finally, two days after the article was published, Catherine and her son were able to settle into a gîte in Gigean, kindly made available by the owner, who was a little moved by their fate. A respite that now allows them to look more serenely for their own accommodation or the miraculous allocation of social housing.

Case still ongoing

As for the financial side of this scam – she lost 5,300 euros in the process – she is in the hands of the police and the Sète branch of UFC Que Choisir. His volunteers have about thirty files of this type on the Thau basin alone.
