Federal 3. RCSA brings back a promising draw (24-24) from its trip to Aude

Menés au score, les Saint-Affricains ont su réagir et égaliser face à l’US Quillan Limoux.

Bis repetita. Like last season, RCSA once again managed to get a draw in Aude against US Quillan Limoux. A promising performance and result for a Saint-Affricaine team that traveled with a squad impacted by a few absences. A team that was able to react despite the exit due to injuries of two front lines (Merviel and Turpin) after 5 minutes of play.

The yellow and blue were able to react and resist well to the confrontational game imposed by their opponents. They even took the lead thanks to a penalty and a drop goal from Castan which allowed his team to lead 6-0. The reaction of the Audois was not long in coming with a try from their hooker Santangelo followed a few moments later by a try from the fly-half Giorgia.

The Audois thus took the lead (12 to 6) after a quarter of an hour of play. A particularly prolific start to the game in terms of points. The game was then balanced and during his team's strong moments, Castan succeeded in two new penalties to equalize (12-12). The score would not change until half-time.

The start of the second period was complicated to say the least for the Sud-Aveyronnais who conceded two tries with a double from Santagelo and a try from full-back Valls. Far from being destabilized, the Saint-Affricains gradually regained control of the ball and chained together playing time. Their efforts were rewarded by a try from Balmefrezol in the 60th minute following a penalty played quickly by hand (24-19).

Satisfaction

This try put the team back in the game, with the possibility of taking the lead on the scoreboard. The equalizing try came a few minutes later. It was scored by Vautrin, the junior who achieved a great feat for his first start in the senior team during an official match. The Saint-Affricains were able to preserve the result until the final whistle.

A result that fully satisfies Jonathan Gien, the RCSA back line coach: “We are happy with the guys. They didn't give up and stuck to the game plan. These 2 points are satisfactory. We will have to confirm at home. I am particularly pleased with the two juniors who played a very good match during their first start." The reserve team lost by a score of 17 to 3, conceding two converted tries and a penalty against a penalty from Viala for the Saint-Affricains.
