Quebecer Leylah Annie Fernandez was defeated in a second round match of the tournament in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Friday.
Fernandez, 88th in the WTA standings, was defeated by Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, 87th racket in the world, in two identical 6-4 innings.

The 18-year-old failed to score any aces and committed seven double faults in the clash. Thus, she had some problems on the serve, as shown by her efficiency percentage of 52% on the first serve.
Fernandez, who did not have to go through the qualifying phase of the competition, defeated the Italian Jasmine Paolini in the first round.
For his part, Zidansek will cross swords with the winner of the duel between the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk and the Taiwanese Su-Wei Hsieh in the third round.
