Fight in a bus because of a mask

Bagarre dans un autobus à cause d’un masque

A man violently attacked a patron of a bus from Montreal on Friday, after being asked to wear his mask of protection required.

In a video released Saturday on the page Facebook ” Spotted STM “, we can see a bus driver in the line 48 West, in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies, ask a individual with a shirt flower put its cover face.

The driver of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) takes advantage of the opportunity to broadcast an automatic message reminding them that the mask is mandatory in public transport.

“Do thou thy work, and continues to heat up,” retorted the user recalcitrant, which, however, has a mask in the back pocket of his trousers, that can be observed on the images.

Another passenger then decides to intervene.

“Why do you bother the world ? You drink a beer, and you’re not mask “, is meant. Visibly annoyed by this comment, the man is not hidden, asked him to ” mind his business “.

A few seconds later, he landed a first punch to the traveller who has stopped.

The latter tries to protect himself by pushing back his attacker, but receives two other shots, resulting in his fall to the ground.

Authorized access

This “unacceptable behaviour” has been reported to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), mentions Isabella-Alice Tremblay, spokesperson for the STM.

But she reminds us that the STM, however, may not deny access to citizens without a mask.

According to the STM, 96 % of travelers flew the covers-face this week, while they were only 87 % last week.

The syndicate of bus drivers of the STM does not wish to comment Saturday.

Saturday night, the SPVM was unable to provide any information regarding this assault.

In parallel to this incident, hundreds of people gathered Saturday in Montreal to express their anger, and their scepticism with regard to the sanitary measures imposed by the public Health.

The social distancing between the protesters was not more to go than the port of the mask.

People did not hesitate to hug each other and get closer. The team of TVA Nouvelles has been the target of insults from demonstrators.

The journalist Yves Poirier has even received a can of beer on him, as he walked through the crowd, besides being a victim of bullying.
