Fighting finally banned in the QMJHL
March 6, 2023 | Sport | No Comments|
The QMJHL Members' Assembly voted in favor of a complete ban on fighting on the circuit.
According to our information, the new legislation will however be ratified at the next QMJHL conference, next June.
A fight would therefore result in a match penalty automatic but exceptions could occur in the case, for example, of a player who would be the instigator of a fight.
Remember that the rules are already strict in the QMJHL in the event of fights and that every fight. Since September 30, 2020, a fight results in a major penalty of five minutes and ten minutes of misconduct.
In total this season, 79 fights have occurred during 536 games played, for an average 0.14 fights per game.
