“Fewer than five patients have been infected on a unit,” a spokesperson for the facility said in an email.
However, it is not known which unit it is.
The CHUM, which had so far been spared by the pandemic, has implemented numerous measures to contain the outbreak.
“We will also carry out regular screening tests on all of our employees working on this unit as well as on patients over the next 14 days,” added Lucie Dufresne, public relations officer at the CHUM.
The visits of relatives have been suspended, except those linked to humanitarian reasons, it was also specified.
Mme Dufresne mentioned that a consultant specializing in infection control prevention is present on the unit at all times.
