The Center hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) is currently fighting its first outbreak of COVID-19.
A spokesperson for the establishment indicates in an email that “less than five patients have been infected on a unit”. However, it is not known which unit it is.
The CHUM, which had so far been spared by the pandemic, has implemented numerous measures to contain the outbreak.
Thus, all employees and patients of the unit will be tested, it is written.
“We will also carry out regular screening tests on all of our employees working on this unit as well as on patients over the next 14 days,” adds Lucie Dufresne, public relations officer at the CHUM.
Visits of relatives have also been suspended, except those for humanitarian reasons, it is specified.
Finally, Ms. Dufresne mentions that an advisor specializing in infection control prevention is present on the unit at all times.
