Un hypermarché contrôlé sous l’œil du préfet

#HÉRAULT – The director of the Carrefour de Lattes hypermarket, near Montpellier, had not planned in her diary for this Tuesday the surprise visit of the prefect of Hérault, François-Xavier Lauch, accompanied by the director of the DDPP, the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection, Yann Louguet. The impromptu control operation follows government announcements aimed at sending a signal to angry farmers. State agents thus inspected the wine section, the fruit and vegetable stalls, before going through the butcher's shop. « It is not a question of targeting one brand rather than another, assures the prefect. We will carry out five such checks this week in the department. There are strong expectations from winegrowers, particularly on what we call francization, which consists of passing off foreign wines as French, by misleading the consumer. »

Interned in Drancy, the thirteen from Salsigne left there in a convoy « of 1,500 people crammed into cattle cars ». This January 31, 2024, in Salsigne, eighty years later, thanks to an amateur historian and two residents of this commune in Aude, a ceremony at the miners' memorial will honor the memory of these thirteen Jewish workers deported in 1944 . A prayer for the dead should be said by Ann-Gaëlle Attias, rabbi from Toulouse: a kaddish for these victims and against the oblivion which buried this event.
