The OGC Nice player had threatened to end his life five months ago by jumping from the Magnan viaduct in Nice. After spending three months in hospital, Alexis Beka Beka is now trying to rebuild her life with her family in Caen in Normandy.

Five months ago, OGC Nice midfielder Alexis Beka Beka was close to committing a desperate act. The footballer threatened to jump from the Magnan viaduct on the A8, Friday September 29, 2023 in the morning.

Alexis Beka Beka had stopped on the emergency lane. He then climbed over the low wall and threatened to jump from the bridge, at a height of approximately 100 meters. 

Fighting for several weeks against dark thoughts, the player finally changed his mind before being taken care of by the emergency services. The scene moved football observers and further broke the taboo on the issue of mental health among high-level athletes.

Five months after this painful episode, the player tries to rebuild himself, far from football, as LTeam.

The player is resting with family

After being hospitalized for three months in Nice, the 22-year-old returned to Normandy, to Caen, where he grew up. Surrounded by his loved ones, he leads a simple life there, punctuated by family meals, sports sessions and medical appointments. His work stoppage ends in May, it may be renewed if the doctors judge that Alexis Beka Beka still needs time to get better.

On the side of his club, its leaders are patient without putting any pressure on the player, ensuring that the priority remains his health. "We are in regular link with Alexis's family and professional entourage. Our only concern, and it has always been, is that he is doing as well as possible", the club told < em>The Team.
