Following the death of his wife, this octogenarian is threatened with being evicted from his house

82-year-old Paul Rudelle, a retiree, will have to leave the house in which he has lived for nearly 40 years. The property belonged to his deceased wife. Those close to Paul Rudelle have launched a fundraiser in the hope of being able to buy back the accommodation.

He has lived there almost half of his life and yet he is being asked to leave the place. Paul Rudelle, an 82-year-old retiree, is invited to leave the house in which he has lived for nearly 40 years, reports La Dépêche. Located in the town of Séquestre, it belonged to his deceased partner.

The couple was neither married nor in a civil partnership, so it was the daughters of the deceased, born from a previous union, who inherited her property. 

A summary eviction procedure has been launched by the new owners. A hearing was held last November at the Albi judicial court and the protection litigation judge confirmed that Paul Rudelle is an “occupant without rights or title” ; since Simone's death and grants her six months to leave the house. The retiree appealed this decision.

A pot to buy back the house

The social services of the town hall of the Sequester and the Department offered support to Paul Rudelle to apply for social housing. The latter refused, preferring to end his life in this house.

Thus, those close to Paul Rudelle are trying to collect donations so that he himself can buy the property from the two sisters. "On the death of Paul, who has no children, the house would revert to the Abbé Pierre Foundation, according to his expressed and duly recorded wish", declared Christian, friend and neighbor of the retiree.
