Facing a conquering Alès team from the start, Aigues-Mortes logically lost and was never able to make up the deficit on Sunday, September 29, during the 4th round of the Coupe de France.

The Cévenols do everything faster

The Aigues-Mortais displayed a determination of good quality as soon as they returned to the field. But, if they put the Alésiens under pressure, it was without bringing any real danger, like the attempts of Fangier (67th), Défossé (71st) and Peyrard who missed the target.

Domenech misses a penalty

Aigues-Mortes then obtained a penalty. Domenech took it too weakly and Maamouch easily got down on the ball (78th). A goal could have revived the Saliniers… On the contrary, it was the Alésiens who sealed the fate of the game with a splendid free kick from Hamek (0-3, 90th).

“We quickly conceded two goals without being able to react immediately, explained Ludovic Fontaine, president of the USSA, afterwards. And when we took the game into our own hands in the second half, we didn't have any luck and we even missed a penalty that could have revived us…"

Hakim Malek, the OAC coach, was satisfied: "We beat a good Aigues-Mortes team, well organized. I regret our drop in form in the second half."
