Football: Former Montpellier player Elye Wahi signs with Olympique de Marseille

From the slag heaps of Pas-de-Calais to the Phocaean city, there is only one step and 25 million euros (plus 5 in bonuses), for Elye Wahi.

The striker had made an impression at Montpellier, and scored 19 goals in 33 matches in the orange and blue jersey. He was then transferred to RC Lens for 35 million euros, with the aim of moving up a gear.

Succeeding Sanchez and Aubameyang

The Courcouronnes native had a mixed season at Lens: he experienced the joy of Champions League evenings and the victory of the blood and gold against Arsenal (2-1), but also some questioning. With 9 goals over the entire 2023-2024 season, Elye Wahi will have to seek to move up a gear at Olympique de Marseille, and will have the difficult task of succeeding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyand, who left for Al-Qadsiah.

The new Marseille player will return to his former club on the eighth day of the championship, the weekend of October 20.
