Football: it’s back to normal at regional level, the Thau Five club is back in action

Les dés sont jetés, c’est le coup d’envoi en Ligue régionale. MIDI LIBRE – E.R.

We take the same and we start again. There will always be five teams from the Thau basin to fight in the regional championships. Back on the field this weekend of September 7 and 8.

A change is to be noted this season but it is significant: SC Sète has started its return to a level more in line with its standing, it will play in R2 while waiting for better.

Maintenance, quickly

For Asfac in R1, the contract is simple and reasonable. It will be a question of staying up as soon as possible in order to avoid the pangs of uncertainty like last season. To set the tone for the difficulty of the task, a serious candidate will visit Frontignan. The Grenats de Saint-Clément, freshly arrived from N3, have kept the majority of their squad. Proof that a return to the level above remains an objective. The Muscatiers have also hardly changed their structure. The preparation has been marked by injuries, which is worrying.

Let's bet that, like at the end of last season, the “Pichichi” Florian Moureaux and the team as a whole will be keen to set the Lucien-Jean stand alight for the first time.

Right off the bat, a derby

For their part, it is in Lattes that the Sète team will start the season. If the suburban Montpellier players still seem to be looking for their former glory, they remain faithful to their policy. Young and female players occupy an important place among the "Blood and Gold". The "Green and White" will certainly want to show their true colours by positioning themselves from the start.

Saturday evening, at Sesquier, the first R3 derby will pit the Mézois against the Frontignan reserves. Two squads that have undergone quite a few changes, one out of a need to bring experience, the other because it is in his nature to play the club's youngsters and those who arrived in the off-season.

Finally, Sunday in Balaruc, Mathieu Munoz's men have a date with an unknown. This is often the case when you are measuring yourself against a reserve team of a particularly ambitious N3 club.
