Football: What time does the summer transfer window end in France and other countries ?

For the 18 Ligue 1 clubs, the end of the summer transfer window is fast approaching. Tonight at 10:59 p.m. French time, French teams will no longer be able to expand their squad.

The transfer market is not the same for a Spanish club as for a Qatari club. While the majority of European markets close tonight for four months before the winter transfer window, the Big 5 clubs are in the final stretch to recruit new players.

Germany will be the first to close the transfer window, Turkey in two weeks

Our neighbors across the Rhine will close their market today at 8 p.m. That's four hours ahead of the other three major championships: La Liga, the Premier League and Serie A, where clubs will be able to make transfers until 11:59 p.m. French time.

Their French counterpart has decided to close the summer transfer window one hour earlier, at 10:59 p.m. On September 2, it will be the turn of Portugal, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia. Next will come the Belgian and Qatari championships and, last but not least, the Turkish Süper Lig, where the doors to the summer transfer window will close on September 13.

A small clarification needed regarding Ligue 1: French clubs will be allowed to recruit a joker after the deadline. However, this joker will have to play in France or be a player without a contract.

The Ligue 1 clubs therefore still have a few hours to finish their shopping while the French championship is currently the third biggest spender in the Big 5 just behind the Premier League and Serie A.
