The Fédération des pourvoiries du Québec oversees and represents its many members.

We all know that there are tons of outfitters. When trying to assess this market, it is very difficult to assess who is offering what, and how. 

I recently received a very interesting and revealing document from the new CEO of the QPF, Dominic Dugré. Here is a summary of the data.


Among the 336 associated outfitters, there are 153 with exclusive rights and 168 without exclusive rights or on private land. There are 38 that have one-star rated accommodation units, 103 two-star rated, 232 three-star rated, 178 four-star rated and 20 five-star rated.

Of the total number, there are has 59 outfitters that can accommodate you in inns, 7 in houseboats, 135 in camps, 300 in cabins and 21 in lodges.

In terms of various vocations, there are 102 outfitters with the “family vacation” distinction, 59 with the “corporate” mention, 71 snowmobile relays and 50 quad relay outfitters.


Of all the listed sites, 197 offer moose hunting, 177 bear, 55 deer Virginie, 12 wild turkey, 188 small game, 53 woodcock, 30 Canada goose, 46 duck, 9 pheasant, 11 willow ptarmigan, 12 snow goose, and 140 outfitters offers spruce grouse hunting.

In terms of hunting methods, there are 196 outfitters that offer bow or crossbow hunting, 253 with firearms, there are 32 outfitters with hunting dogs, 101 with black powder rifle, and 97 others offer guided packages.


In all, in the network, 157 outfitters offer fishing for walleye, 174 for pike, 46 for bass, 2 for German carp, 77 for whitefish, 26 outfitters offer fishing for lake sturgeon, 12 for muskellunge , 3 to anadromous arctic char, 25 to freshwater arctic char, 131 to brook trout, 166 to native brook trout, 35 to landlocked salmon, 32 to Atlantic salmon, 109 to lake trout, 35 rainbow trout, 10 brown trout, then 15 outfitters offer sea trout fishing and 21 splake fishing.

Of the 336 outfitters, there are has 128 that offer daily fishing, 54 ice fishing and 131 guided fishing.

For fun

When hunting and fishing is over, it is possible to participate in other activities. There are 161 outfitters offering kayaking, 172 canoeing, 185 wildlife observation, 66 hiking, 58 camping, 10 forest survival initiation, 6 hiking guided horseback riding, and 34 mountain biking.

Compared to rentals, there are 55 outfitters where you can rent a pontoon boat, 32 a snowmobile and 23 a quad.
