(Edmonton) Canadian midfielder Shamit Shome has signed a new contract with FC Edmonton of the Canadian Premier League.
The 23-year-old ex-Montreal Impact color-bearer grew up in Edmonton and was developed by the club’s youth academy. He also played for FC Edmonton in NASL before being drafted in the second round (41e overall) by the Montreal eleven in the MLS Super Draft in 2017.
The Impact decided not to take advantage of the option clause included in its contract in November. Shome was used on 52 occasions, in all competitions, with the Impact.
The Canadian international, he has two caps so far, has initialed a contract covering only the 2021 season.
