(Calgary) The Calgary Flames signed a three-season rookie contract to their first pick in the last draft, forward Connor Zary.
Zary, who currently represents Canada at the World Junior Championship in Edmonton, was drafted at the 24e ranked by the Flames in the October NHL Draft.
Under the collective agreement in force in the NHL, the maximum salary Zary can receive will be US $ 925,000 per season.
The 6-foot, 185-pound center tallied 38 goals and 48 assists in 57 games for the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL in 2019-20.
Zary had an assist in his first three games at the World Junior Championship.
