Francis Palombi had run in the 2017 legislative elections in Lozère under the La République en marche label of Emmanuel Macron, who had just been elected president of the Republic for the first time. In the second round, he was defeated by Pierre Morel-À-L’Huissier (LR). In 2022, when he had not received the investiture of the presidential party, he had launched into battle alone. As a dissident, he had obtained 2.25% of the votes and had been defeated in the first round.
In 2023, Francis Palombi had been decorated with the Legion of Honor. He was part of the July 14 promotion.
