The project is reoriented

The summary that we can make is: behind all. In a report, dated December 13, from the president of the Department to the permanent commission of the institution, we speak, in fact, of "reorientation of the project" which, for the record, was launched at the time by Pierre Bouldoire, former mayor of Frontignan and first vice-president of the Departmental Council. According to this document, the consultation, which was held from March to June 2023, revealed that "the project site, a center of’ general public interpretation (read elsewhere, Editor’s note)received mixed support from the public, mainly local, who most often focused on the question of access, and from institutional or associative partners whose role in the project remained to be clarified."

Contradiction between preservation of the site and influx of public

On the other hand, support was "strong and general from the prism of coastal environmental issues and the interest in highlighting it& ;quot;, and at the same time the budgetary envelope – 17 M€ – was considered too high. The results of the consultation also show  "questioning which focused a lot on the support measures for the project, and in particular the regulation of access to Aresquiers (…) with a form of contradiction: regulating attendance on this sensitive site while the project would generate an additional flow of public". In fact, a closure of traffic on the Aresquiers bridge had been considered. Which caused a great outcry…
