The Frenchwoman Diane Parry (72nd) was overthrown in the super tie-break by the Russian nugget Mirra Andreeva, already in the top 50 at 16, in the third round of the Australian Open on Friday, after having led 5-1 and had a match point in the third set.

Andreeva finally won 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10/5) after almost two and a half hours of play.

Before that, Parry obtained a match point in vain, at 5 games to 3, on the young Russian's serve.

Andreeva, who fell in less than an hour in the previous round to world No.6 Ons Jabeur, has already reached the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the second time in her emerging career. She will face either world No.11 Barbora Krejcikova or Australian qualifier Storm Hunter.
