Forget drive-ins and benefits virtual, last Monday in Longueuil, quebec, held an event “historic” : the first live show of the pandemic in a room. The Journal was there.
Forty-one persons, not one more. This is the number of spectators was allowed for the first representation of the parallel Project, to the room Fenplast of the College Charles-Lemoyne in Longueuil, quebec.
Louis-José Houde was not thought to be too rusty after a break of 101 days.
The evening of comedy organised by the Group Phaneuf was the first show of the official authorized by the government. The company had put in place all the health measures required (hand sanitizer at the entrance, marking on the floor, tables and chairs spaced out).
The atmosphere was certainly special in this lovely little room that had already hosted up to 160 people for a performance of Louis-José Houde. Monday night, the comedian was back on the same site, in the company of Sam Breton, Jo Cormier and Michelle Desrochers.
“To me, that’s 101 days without shows, 101 days without any income. Thank you for being there ! has launched a Houde in great shape upon his arrival on scene. The ticket is 28 bucks, you are 34 in the room, there is four on the stage, I’m going to buy me a popsicle ! “
Sam Breton has made jokes to 41 spectators.
Layer of rust
As soon as the room lights dimmed, it was almost forgotten that it was completed only to the third party. The laughs were strong and sincere. After all, the spectators were waiting for this evening since mid-march. In fact, there are only the silences that were more pronounced than normal.
In the space of 60 minutes, it was able to temporarily forget the pandemic, and believe that almost in a night of comedy as we used to see before the crisis. It was good to laugh at jokes delivered in front of us and not through a computer.
On Wednesday, Sam Breton mentioned in the Journal have been “the first layer of rust” to be removed when the representation of 19 h, Monday. But upon his return on stage, at 21 h, it had returned to its ease of yesteryear.
“All in all, it was super nice,” said producer Benjamin Phaneuf. Apply the health rules, this is not so complex. “
