Futsal: in Türkiye, the Marguerittes club at the European summit

Fifusa Cup 2024 (AFF competition): the Gardoises du Futsal marguerittois champions, the Gardoises vice-champions in Turkey.

Marguerittes, European label… and the beautiful Europeans. The great team, and now the great teams: a few days ago in Turkey, in Kemer, the Marguerittois Futsal women retained their continental title acquired last year by winning the Fifusa Cup 2024 (under the ;rsquo;aegis of the AFF, a French futsal association different from the FFF) ; while the boys, for their first European participation, reached the final, beaten by Stolitsa, a professional Russian club.

The double for the Marguerittoises

Crowned in Milan in 2023, at least in the final of the last four editions, the Gardoises were expected. And they were there. Qualified for the semi-finals, they beat a pro team from Antalya, which had deprived them of the title in 2021. In the final, the Marguerittoises did not start as favorites against another pro Turkish club, the USFA and its internationals from Burkina Faso.

Result: 3-1 for the French, goals from Marine Roussel, Julie Parasme (captain) and Cécilia Julian. The captain, voted best player of the event (and her teammate Leslie Aubard, best goalkeeper), savored, moved:"It was once again an incredible experience, both sportingly and humanly. We knew we were lacking rhythm, we weren't necessarily calm. But what made us strong once again was our solidarity. It allowed us to keep our title. This group of girls is exceptional. We trust each other!"

First participation and first final for the Marguerittois

The men's section, for whom it was a first at this level, was heading off into the unknown. After beating the Turks and then the Moldovans, the Gardois faced other French players in the half, already faced in the national championship: the Zéphyrs. A 6-2 success later, the Russian giant presented itself. He had crushed all his opponents, sometimes with gaps of + 15 !

At halftime, the feat was still possible (1-2). The Marguerittois finally lost 5-2, which did not prevent the last bastion Clément Granjon from being named best goalkeeper. "We could hardly have dreamed of a better scenario, appreciated Captain Valentin Robert. In the final, we certainly produce our best copy of the season. What an incredible moment and so many emotions for the amateur players that we are!"

Christophe Cariat (coach) : "This victory, this new title is once again something fantastic, extraordinary. The girls were able to make the necessary efforts to achieve another final. And there, our experience over the last few years has helped us. beneficial. Our medical staff did a tremendous job, too. Concerning the boys, I didn't think they could compete with the boys. this level. The challenge at the start of the competition was not to finish last, and we are going to the final!

This week has been a great one! incredible for our small club where ù we achieve things beyond what we know of the imagination. It’s a dream to take both teams to the Champion’s League, it’s unheard of in futsal. The players had to take time off and pay (dearly) for their participation.
