Future Nîmes Olympique stadium: new twist in the open war between the City and Rani Assaf

Le divorce est plus que consommé entre Nîmes Olympique et la Ville de Nîmes. Midi Libre

Le patron de Nîmes Olympique vient de déposer un recours contre la municipalité via la SAS Nemau.

This is a new twist in the standoff between the town hall of Nîmes and the boss of the Crocos, Rani Assaf. As indicated by our colleagues from Objectif Gard Tuesday January 9, the president of Nîmes Olympic, through SAS Nemau, leader of the new stadium project, has just submitted an appeal against the municipality.

Attack to contest

This Wednesday, January 10, Rani Assaf confirmed this information to Midi Libre, indicating that this appeal had been brought "against the refusal of the building permit" and specifying that "technically, it is necessary to attack the refusal of permit to challenge the decision of the CNAC".

This file for the future stadium, initially worth 250 million euros, includes an enclosure to replace the aging Costières stadium and a new district with housing, offices and shops. But that was before. Before the slow but constant deterioration of relations between Rani Assaf and the City. Jean-Paul Fournier thus confirmed at the end of the year, in our columns, that he had not heard from the management of the Crocos for several weeks.

A hidden war that has become open

His first deputy, Julien Plantier, who had worked a lot on the file, for which he was initially in favor, had declared the end of non-receipt of the Assaf project by announcing to Midi Libre the refusal of & #39;grant the building permit in mid-October. Following the City's dissociation from this matter, brought to the attention of the National Commercial Development Commission (Cnac). Who had therefore herself confirmed her definitive unfavorable opinion last September.

Behind the scenes, Rani Assaf had little taste for the City's position and had said that she did not want to stop there, thinking about all the eventualities. That of an appeal was one. It's now done.

Contacted, the City of Nîmes did not wish, for the time being, to make any comments on the appeal brought by Rani Assaf.
